Alī Imādud-Dīn Nasīmī, often known as Nesimi, was a 14th-century Azerbaijani or Turkmen Ḥurūfī poet. Known mostly by his pen name of Nasimi, he wrote in Azerbaijani, Persian and sometimes Arabic, being the composer of one divan in Azerbaijani, one in Persian, and a number of poems in Arabic. He is considered one of the greatest Turkic mystical poets of the late 14th and early 15th centuries and one of the most prominent early divan masters in Turkic literary history. According to the third edition of the Encyclopedia of Islam Nasimi "is considered to be the true founder" of Turkic classical ʿarūḍ poetry.

Ziba Pasha qizi Ganiyeva was sniper in the Red Army during World War II credited with 21 kills. After the war she became a philologist.

Mirza Alakbar Sabir, born Alakbar Zeynalabdin oglu Tahirzadeh was an Azerbaijani satirical poet, public figure, philosopher and teacher. He set up a new attitude to classical traditions, rejecting well-trodden ways in poetry.

Seyid Azim Shirvani was an Azerbaijani poet and enlightener. He got his first religious education in Iraq. After returning to motherland he refused his spiritual dignity and opened a private school. Seyid Azim Shirvani continued Fuzûlî’s traditions in his love-lyrical poems. In his satirical poems and fables Seyid Azim Shirvani ridiculed priesthood, opposed backwardness and ignorance, called to enlightenment and culture. Contemporary poets consider him their teacher.

Farrukhzad I was the 24th ruler of Shirvanshahs. He was fourth son of Shirvanshah Manuchehr III, younger brother of previous shahs - Shirvanshah Afridun II, Akhsitan I, Shirvanshah Shahanshah, uncle of Shirvanshah Fariburz II and father of Shirvanshah Gushtasb I and Prince Rashid ibn Farrukhzad.
